Part A: Make the authoring tool user interface accessible
This section applies to the whole of the authoring tool user interface, except when content is previewed. It includes parts of the interface that stay the same, such as menus and tools, as well as the content that is being authored.
Obviously, if the author inputs content that is not accessible, such as an image without alt text, that is not a fail of the authoring tool, so that isn't in scope.
The main point of Part A is to ensure that disabled authors can access and use the authoring tool to product content. So the authoring tool itself must work, regardless of how it is accessed. It should work with assistive software and with keyboard navigation. This largely reflects the principles of WCAG but with some additional clarification and criteria.
