Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

I aim to ensure that any content I create complies with WCAG 2.2 Opens in new window to AA level. This should mean that people using assistive technologies such as JAWS (and other screen readers), ZoomText (and other screen magnifiers) and Dragon (and other speech-to-text applications) can access my content without difficulties.

WCAG 2.2 was published on 5th October 2023. Before that, I worked to WCAG 2.1. In these guidance pages, I have marked the new WCAG 2.2 criteria as new.

The Internet

This section is constantly growing and evolving. I have split the information into the four sections of WCAG. These sections contain specific information about what each criteria means and how to achieve it.

Please choose from the following options to learn more about how to make your content accessible.

Documents

The following sections include detailed guidance on how to make different document formats accessible.

Authoring Tools

Whilst this section includes less detail on how to meet the guidelines, I have now created a section to help understand and interpret the Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG).

WAI-ARIA

WAI-ARIA stands for the Web Accessibility Initiative, Accessible Rich Internet Applications. I've added this section to the WCAG page because ARIA can be needed to meet WCAG criteria in some situations. Also, in preparation for the Web Accessibility Specialist exam, I need to study and secure my knowledge and understanding of ARIA.
