User action: Select the image using Shift plus the left or right arrow key.

JAWS: Picture 1 image 7.2 cm wide by 7.86 cm high inline with text, selected. Picture 1 graphic, picture 1 image. Layout options, text wrapping and positioning available.

User action: Press Alt to enter the menus.

JAWS: Upper ribbon, expanded. Home tab, 2 of 13, Alt followed by H.

User action: Press J P to enter the Picture Format ribbon.

JAWS: J, P, picture tools, picture format tab, 13 of 13, Alt followed by Y, JP.

User action: Press A T to open the Alt Text pane.

JAWS: A, T, Leaving menus, alt text, description edit.

User action: Type your alt text into the text box.

JAWS: Lady in a wheelchair, looking out to sea, with her hands raised high in the air.

User action: Press Ctrl + Space to open the Task Pane Options. Go down three with the arrow keys and press Enter to close the pane.

JAWS: Control space, group, move, 1 of 4, M. Resize, 2 of 4, S. Help, 3 of 4, H. Close, 4 of 4, C. Enter, leaving menus.

The alt text pane has now closed and you are back in the document with the picture still selected.
